-- Mr. Ernest Garland, 84, died Thursday, April 8, 2010, at his residence.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at Chester Memorial Gardens with the Rev. James M. Sanders officiating.

Born July 29, 1925, in Clifton, S.C., Mr. Garland was a son of the late George M. and Willie Morrow Garland. He served in World War II during the Battle of the Bulge in 1943-44. He was retired with 35 years of service from Springs Industries.

He is survived by two brothers, Habern Garland and Edward Garland, both of Chester; and a number of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the graveside.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association Mid-Atlantic Affiliate, Memorials and Tributes Processing Center, P.O. Box 5216, Glen Allen, VA 23058-5216.
