James Samuel Sam Wooten, Jr, 70, died Sunday, November 13, 2011 at Chester Regional Nursing Center. The funeral service will be 1:00 PM Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Zion Presbyterian Church with Rev. Al Ward officiating and the interment will be in Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Zion Presbyterian Church.Born April 10, 1941 in Newnan, GA, Mr. Wooten was the son of the late James Samuel Wooten, Sr. and JoAnn Smith Wooten. He was a graduate of North East High School in St. Petersburg, FL , St. Petersburg, Jr. College, St. Petersburg, FL, Western Carolina University in Cullowee, NC and Clemson University. He is a former member of Lowrys City Council and the Highland Ruritan Club. He was retired as a drafting instructor at the Applied Technology Center of Rock Hill Schools after thirty-five years of service. He was a member of Zion Presbyterian Church where he served as Deacon and was presently an Elder.He is survived by his wife of forty-three years, Beth H. Wooten; one son, Jamey Wooten and his wife Amy of Chester; four grandchildren, Emma Wooten, Lydia Wooten and Jessie Reydel all of Chester and Danny Foxx of Rock Hill.
