WAC Major Charlotte Hall Dies At 43

Major Charlotte J. Hall, 43, Women's Army Corps, United States Army, formerly of Littlestown, who resided in Fayetteville, N.C., died Sunday afternoon at the Cape Fear Valley Hospital near her home. A native of Littlestown, she was the daughter of Charles B. and L. Josephine Collins Hall, formerly of Littlestown. She graduated from Littlestown High School in 1949, received a bachelor of science from the University of Kansas City, and an MA degreee in psychology from the University of Missouri. She entered the service in January, 1950, and has served a total of 19 1/2 years of active duty in the United States Army. She served in Germany and South Vietnam and received the Bronze Star, the Meritorious Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam service medal, European Occupation medal, Army Commendation Medal, Oak Leaf Cluster, Joint Service Commendation Medal and Air Service Medal, Vietnam. She was stationed at Fort Bragg, N.C., where she was commanding officer of a WAC company. News reported from Fayetteville listed the death as a case of suicide by shooting. In addition to her parents, she is survived by six brothers and sisters: James B. Hall, Gibsonville, N.C.; Clarence (Joe) Hall, Hanover, R.D.; John H. Hall, Hampton; Charles C. Hall, Shrewsburg; Mrs. Nancy V. Reck, Hanover, and Mrs. Lena H. Kagarise, Littlestown, materanl grandfather, Ernest Barnes, Littlestown, R. 1. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Littlestown Funeral Home in Littlestown. Interment will be in the Rest Haven Cemetery in Hanover. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday evening. Military rites will be conducted by the United States Army.
