PAUL – Doris Bernice Icenbice, age 94, of Paul, died Friday, July 25, 2014, at Parke View Care and Rehabilitation Center in Burley, ID.

Doris was born in 1920, to Glenn and Ethel Hammond Barklow. She was raised on a farm with her six brothers and sisters and attended schools in the Pearl City, Ill. area. After school she moved to Freeport, Ill., and worked for Kraft Cheese Company, until she joined the WAVES. After basic training, she was stationed at Chase Field, a Naval Air Cadet Center in Beeville, TX. During that time, Doris met and married Howard Icenbice, in the Methodist Church in Beeville, TX, on June 29, 1944.

After their Naval service, Doris and Howard moved to Merrill, Ore., where they farmed for 10 years surrounded by family and friends. Their three daughters were born at this time. In 1957, they drew a homestead north of Paul where they met the daunting challenge of raising a family, clearing land to farm, and all of the other inconveniences that went along with this undertaking. The neighbors became lifelong friends and were very much part of each other's families. They farmed there until 1983 when they retired and moved into Paul. Doris worked for the Post Office for 14 years. She was an active member of the Paul United Methodist Church.

Doris spent many years enjoying and participating in organizations that were dedicated to reflect the spirit of fraternal love and the desire to work together for good. She gave of her time to many projects that benefitted others. Doris was a member of the American Legion Post #77. A member and Past Matron of both E-dah-ho Chapter #77 and Naomi #4 Order of the Eastern Star, past Royal Matron and charter member of Garnet Court #5 Order of the Amaranth, a member of Iras Temple #40 Daughters of the Nile, past president of Sari Club #1, past president of Twin Falls Assembly #109 Social Order of the Beauceant, and Past President of South Central District Past Matrons. Doris held many state offices in the Order of Eastern Star and in the Order of the Amaranth.

She enjoyed working outside with yard work and farm work and especially going on hunting and fishing trips with friends. Each year Doris and Howard would travel to Pearl City, Ill., and Merrill, Ore., to spend time with family. So many wonderful memories were made on those visits. Doris and Howard cherished there time with family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard; her parents; four brothers; and one sister; three brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and a grandson. She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Harry) Holler, Sharon Sestero, and Norma (Lynn) Bailey; 7 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild.
