Charles served as a Sergeant, Company C, 36th Engineers, U.S. Army during World War II.
He resided in Harford County, Maryland prior to the war.
He enlisted in the Army on March 25, 1942 at Camp Lee, Virginia. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Firemen and also as Single, without dependents.
Charles was "Killed In Action" in the Invasion of Sicily, Italy during the war and was awarded a Purple Heart.
