Mrs. Margaret Mullen one of the pioneer settlers of Walnut, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. James Farrell of Casey, Iowa. Her husband George Mullen, passed away in 1887 at the farm east of Walnut. Left to morn, are their five children, James, of Alaska, South Dakota, John of Princeton, Minn., Mrs. James Dolan of O' Neil, Nebraska, Mrs. J.C. Redden of Calome, South Dakota, and Mrs. Farrell of Casey, Ia. Margaret Mullen was born in Co. Mathe, Ireland, on Feb. 2, 1832, came to Walnut in 1868, and lived in Iowa almost continuously since.
Her remains were brought to Walnut, Sunday morning and laid at rest in the Catholic Cemetery. Unmarked lot Row 6 Lot 23
