Walter G. Harvard died Thursday, February 6 at his residence in Macon at the age of 74.
He was the Vice-President of Mathis-Akins Concrete Company in Macon, Georgia.He served as President of the Georgia Concrete & Products Association in 1986 and 1987.
He was a veteran of the US Army serving during World War II. Before working for Mathis-Akins, he retired from Marquette Cement Company in 1975. He was a past President of the Georgia Home Builders Association.
He was a member of the Houston Lake Golf and Country Club and the Deer Trail Golf and Country Club.
He was a member of the Houston Avenue Christian Church where he taught the Bethany Sunday School Class for 35 years. He was a vice president and elder of the church. He was also a past president of the Vineville Christian Church and was chairman of the Greater Macon Area Christian Churches.
He is survived by his wife, Roma Moore Harvard of Macon; children Walter G. Harvard, Jr., and Gwen H. Chavis, both of Macon; Jaye H. Boyd of Elberton and Pam H. Blakeney of Williamson; a sister, Madge H. Davis,of Pinehurst; and nine grandchildren.
