James was born in Jersey City, NJ and served as an infantryman with B Co, 4th Bn, 47th Infantry Reg., 9th Infantry Division. He began his tour on 5 DEC 1967 and was KIA 8 months later on 30 Aug 1968. He died as a result of small arms fire in Go Cong Province, South Vietnam. His decorations include The Purple Heart, National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Combat Infantryman's Badge. His name is engraved on the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, DC on Panel W45, Line 5.
