Death: 1800

Christian Leviston/Livingston, born ca. 1740, possibly in Lancaster Co., Pa. Removed to Washington Co., Md. where he married Anna (Miller) Spangler, a widow, on 19 July 1778 in Hagerstown. Moved to Bedford (now Somerset) Co., Pa., ca. 1788 and resided in Stonycreek Twp. Farmer and distiller. Died in 1800, prior to June. Father of David, Elizabeth (Royer), Susanna (Gnaegi), Catherine (Risely), Mary (Kopp/Messimore), Henry, Andrew and Anne (Baughman). Stepfather of John, Christian and Abraham Spangler. He is buried in a lone grave in the woods on what was once the John Long farm. His wife and most of his children went on to Ohio after his death. His hand-made fieldstone originally read: CL 1800, but no trace of the inscription can now be seen. His grave is marked with a flag and Revolutionary War bronze, but although he was of the correct age to be a soldier, no evidence has ever come to light that he did indeed participate.
