VICTIM OF THE S.S. MORRO CASTLE FIRE.
Passenger booked in cabin 351.

The Jakobys were traveling with the Concordia Singing Society, of which they were not members, at the invitation of their friends Martin and Marie Renz, and Jacob and Minnie Likewise. Henry Jakoby was a brew master at Piels.

The specific circumstances of Henry Jakoby's death have not survived. Josephine gave a very brief deposition, in which she described watching the fire on the staircase ignite her son's arm, injuring her back jumping from the ship, and watching her son die of exposure. Mr. Renz and Mrs. Likewise, both of whom lost their spouses, did not mention Mr. Jakoby. All that can be determined was that he was not burned, and so must have died of shock after a long immersion.
