Margaret (Etta) McCarthy and her sister Catherine (Kit) joined the Convent Of Good Shepherd. Both died very young of disease contracted in St Louis. Another older sister, Mary E (Nell) had joined prior to their arrival, but after her younger sisters died, their father came and collected Nell and took her home. He did not want to lose another daughter.
