She was united in marriage to George W. Van Meter in 1857 to this union were born six children, with two boys and four girls, John Van Meter of Okklahoma. The other boy having died in infancy. The girls are Sarah H Ogden of Lerna, Illinois and Mary Smith of Winfield, Kansas. The two other girls having died in 1918.
She came with her family to Illinois in 1865. Her husband and three children having preceded her to that better land.
She leaves to mourn her death one son and two daughters, two brothers and three sisters, twenty-three grandchildren, 37 great grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
She was converted early in life and united with the Christian Church and lived a consistent christian life until her death.
Funeral services were held at the house on Thursday, conducted by Rev. Joe Albin of Neorge, Illinois. Interment in the Janesville Cemetery.
