Jasper's father, William, was 32 and his mother, Mary, was 29 when he was born. Jasper lived on the family Tennessee plantation where all his siblings were born in Warren County, Tennessee. The family moved to Hickory County, Missouri, sometime in the 1840's. His sister Ann was married in 1845, in Urbana, Hickory, Missouri. His mother died in 1849 at the age of 51 and was buried at Fisher Cemetery in Preston, Hickory, Missouri.

In 1850, Jasper was living in a $600 home with his family: William E Edde 54 VA, Farmer; Nancy Edde 44 TN; Jasper Edde 21 TN; John Edde 19 TN; Nathan Edde 10 TN; Mary Lea 12 KY; Thomas J Lea 9 MO; and Ruth Lea 6 MO.

He married Jane Elizabeth (Vinyard) Lindsey February 19, 1854, in Hickory County, Missouri. Her husband had passed away in 1951, after being kicked by a horse. She brought her 3 year old son, Amos Frost Lindsey, to the marriage. Their daughter, Polly M Edde was born in December of that year. Jasper lost two siblings in 1855 when he was 27 years old. Another daughter, Sarah E. Edde, was born in November of 1857.

By 1860, the family had moved to Williams, Stone, Missouri, and were living in a $2000 home with $1134 personal assets. Their son, Columbus J Edde was born October 12, 1860. Amos died Sep. 18, 1861, at the age of 10. Their daughter, Louisa Susanna Edde, was born November 8, 1862. The last known child born in Missouri was their son, Jacob G "Jake" Edde, born January 18, 1865.

By the age of 39, Jasper had moved to Kansas. It is reported that he hid escaped slaves in his stone barn. Their daughter Julia Alice Edde was born in Kansas about 1867. His father passed away in 1868 in Stone County, Missouri at the age of 72. Charles Joseph Edde was born April 1869, in Kansas

Tragedy struck the family when Johnnie passed away on September 16, 1872, at the age of 1 followed by Jake on September 18, 1872, at the age of 7.

Tragedy again struck the Edde household when "Vinnie" passed away on October 27, 1887, at the age of 10 from a kick by a horse.

Jasper's brother Joseph died on May 26, 1906, in Preston, Missouri when Jasper was 78 years old.

Jasper's sister Ann died on April 25, 1907, in Dallas County, Missouri when Jasper was 79 years old.

In 1910, the census shows the Edde family living in West half of Mission, Brown, Kansas: In their owned free home is: Jasper Eddy Head 81 TN, Parents b. VA, m. 56 yrs,Own Income; Jane E Eddy Wife 77 IL, Dad b. PA, Mom b. VA, 2nd marriage, married 56 yrs, 12 children, 7 living.

Jasper's wife Jane Elizabeth passed away on February 15, 1912, in Horton, Kansas, at the age of 79. They had been married 58 years.

Jasper's brother John died on April 30, 1913, in Preston, Missouri when Jasper was 85 years old.

Jasper's brother Nathan died on April 7, 1914, in Hickory County, Missouri when Jasper was 86 years old.

January 1920 found Jasper living with his daughter's family in Horton, Brown Kansas: George W Stahl 73 PA; Polly N Stahl 65 MO; Jasper Edde Father 90 TN; Deward Colley Grandson 16 KS; No one was working.

It is unknown what happened to his children, Sarah and Julie. 9 of the 12 reported children are accounted for. There appears to be one child not accounted for. Four of the 5 children that had died before 1910 are accounted for.

Jasper Joseph Edde died at the age of 92 years, 3 months, and 10 days.
