Willie Law Van Horn, a native of Columbia, La., died in a local hospital on Feb 20, 1960, following a long illness.
A World War I veteran Van Horn had resided in Corpus Christi (4506 Upland Road) for the 28 years prior to his death. He was a retired electrical contractor who also had served on the Corpus Christi police force from 1939 until 1954.
He was a member of the Kerrvile Epsicopal Church, Knights of the Phythas, and Mason Lodge. Surviving is his wife, May Bowers; two sons W.L. and V.C. of San Antonio; one daughter, Mrs. Frank Tansik of Corpus Christi, one sister Mrs. George W. Lamb of Clearwater, Fla,; eight grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at St. Thomas Episcopal Church with the Rev. Clay T. Puckett officiating. Burial for the 74 year old Louisiana native was in Seaside Memorial Park with graveside military services. Dunne-Langham Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
