Baxter D. "Pappy" Roach was the Son of James "Jim" Roach and Elizabeth Beets "Sally" Cox.

1862-1865, Confederate States of America Veteran. Served with Company D, 22nd South Carolina Rifles.

After the war in 1866, Baxter married Elizabeth Wilbanks in Westminister, Oconee, South Carolina. Their 12 children were William B. "Willie"; Hannah; Robert; Sarah A; Baxter Dee Jr; Hezekiah "Ki"; Harvey; Etta; Walter E; Charles W; Thomas L and Ava B.
