HICKOX - James Joseph "Jimmy" Herrin, 62, died early Wednesday morning from injuries sustained in a traffic accident in Folkston.

"Jimmy," as he was known to his family and friends, was the son of the late Elias Belonia Sylvester and Ollie White Herrin of the Hickox community. He was educated in Brantley County schools and was employed with Satilla Rehabilitation Center in Folkston. He was a member of Atkinson Church of God of Prophecy. He enjoyed gardening and took great pleasure in spending times with his family and close friends. Jimmy considered all of his friends like family.

Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Debra Lee; and two step-sisters, Norma Kay O'Berry and Beatrice Crews Todd.

He is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Tammy and John Wood, of Waycross; four brothers, E.B. Herrin (wife Emily), of St. Mary's, Don Herrin (wife Mary) and J.R. Herrin (wife Shirley), both of Hickox, and Dewayne Herrin (wife Sheryl), of Jesup; four sisters, Janice Huling (husband Dr. Robert Huling), of Hazlehurst, Barbara Ann Johnson (husband Charles), of Hickox, Carolyn Edgy (husband Carl), of Waynesville, and Iva Lee Thrift (Lamar), of the Riverside community; a step-sister, Linda Lee (husband Alvin), of Hickox; his step-mother, Idell Herrin, of Hickox; his fiancée, Hayley Osburn, of Atkinson; two grandchildren, Tyler and James Chapman; several nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and close friends.

Visitation will be Friday evening from 6-9PM at the Chambless-Frye Funeral Home in Nahunta.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning (Mar. 17, 2007) at 11AM from the Riverside Chapel Baptist Church with Bishop Raymond Willis and Rev. Randy Wainright officiating.

Burial will follow in the family plot at Bethlehem Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Johnny Herrin, Jr., Gregg Herrin, Claude Johns, Jr., Donnie Herrin, Jr., Jason Thrift, Michael Johnson, Timmy Huling and John Parker.
