Lieut George Benjamin Clarke

Birth: Aug. 28, 1832
Death: Jan. 25, 1905

The son of Jesse C. and Jane S. Clarke. In 1860, he married Dorinda Harris 16 May 1860, Lunenburg County, Virginia.

When War came, he was prominent in recruiting and enlisting men into the Brunswick Guards. He served as the 1st Lieutenant. He transferred to Stuart's Horse Artillery. His service ended with his wounding in Amelia County, days before the surrender. He farmed in Mecklenburg County after the War. Around the turn of the century, they moved back to Brunswick. He died at the Lawrenceville Train Station, while waiting for his train.
