H. Lakin "Doc" Harper, 86, of Walton, died Saturday, December 23, 1995 in Roane General Hospital after an extended illness. He was born in Ryan, a son of the late William C. & Zetta Hunt Harper. He was a lifelong resident of Roane County, and a retired carpenter. He was a member of the Mt. Moriah Baptist Church on Ambler Ridge Road and attended the Walton Union Church.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Garry W. and Veda C. Harper of Walton; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Cody and Tracy Harper of Walton; one great-grandson, Matthew Harper, also of Walton; sisters Oshel Hunt of Walton and Ora Parsons of Massillon, Ohio. He was preceded in death by his wife, Metta Rea Hunt Harper, in 1985; four brothers, Glay, Glennis, John B. and William Clair Harper; one sister Opal Scarbro and two half-sisters, Docie Harper and Maysel Conley.

Services were Wednesday at Sinnett-Taylor Funeral Home, with Rev. Ray R. "Pete" Jones officiating. Burial was in the Mt. Moriah Cemetery.
