Son of William Sidney Slay and Honor Pelton Futch. Married Permelia Agnes Puckett 09 Aug. 1854. Served in the 38th AL Infantry Co. C. Father of William Wyatt and Dolway Juilian Slay. Justice of the Peace for Clarke County, Mississippi from 1867-1873.
Tombstone inscription:
"He took from him a world of care, an everlasting bliss to share."
Linton, Mississippi a small post office in the community was named after John Linton Slay, a respected citizen of the County.
