Private in Co. C, 8th Regt. Ga. Inf., State Troops, Nov. 28, 1861. Mustered out at Savannah, Ga., May 1862. Enlisted as a Private in Co. D, Inf. Battn., Smith's Legion, Ga. Vols., May 6, 1862. Elected 2d Lieutenant Sept. 8, 1862. Transferred to Co. F, 65th I'd. Ga. Inf., Mar. 1863. Absent, sick in Rome, Ga., hospital, July 17, 1863. Is shown as Lieutenant Commanding Company Nov. 2, 1864 to end of war. Surrendered at Greensboro, N. C., Apr. 26, 1865. Paroled there May 1, 1865. Parole shows his rank as 1st Lieutenant. (Born in Ga.)
HENRY VAN RAMBO was born 12 Oct 1833 and married MARGARET E.FOSTER on 25 Nov 1852 in Floyd Co. He died 28 May 1922 in Atlanta, GA and was buried in the family plot in Lyerly. GA.
