From the Clay Center Times, Kansas newspaper, January 5, 1911--
The subject of this sketch, Ira G. McMillan, was born in Branch County, Michigan August 13, 1844, and departed this life January 2, 1911, at the age of 66 years, 4 months, and 20 days. He married Miss Sarah Tompkins of Akron, New York October 22, 1868. To this union were born five children, three daughters and two sons, all of whom with the wife and mother mourn the loss of a kind father and faithful husband.
The January following their marriage they moved to DeWitt, Michigan, from whence in the spring of 1880 they moved to Clay County, Kansas, and settled on a farm near Green, where he lived until September, 1903, when he moved to Green where he spent the remainder of his life.
At the age of 29 years he was converted and joined the Free Methodist Church. He lived a consistent Christian life. Thus the family has lost a loving husband and father and the community has lost a good citizen, but their loss is his gain.
