IONA, ID -- Max Joseph Storer, 84, of Iona, passed away September 2, 2006, at his home. He was under the care of his loving wife and Hands of Hope Hospice.
Max was born December 18, 1921, in Ammon, Idaho, to Joseph Henry Storer and Ann Rebecca Empey Storer. He graduated from Iona High School, then later, Machinist School in Boise, Idaho, Naval Training Center in Great Lakes, Michigan, and the University of Wisconsin at Madison, Wisconsin.
He married Dorothy Conrad February 16, 1940. She and their son, Darwin, passed away November 24, 1941. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II as a Petty Officer 3rd Class on the Aircraft Carrier, USS Intrepid.
Max married Lola May Field October 17, 1947. They were married 50 years when she passed away February 19, 1998. He married Donna Grover Kirby October 9, 1999, in Iona, Idaho. He worked for the City of Idaho Falls Electrical Department in Metering and Distribution for 37 years, retiring as Superintendent of that department.
He was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many positions, including High Council Member and a member of several bishoprics. Max had a passion for hunting, fishing, and enjoyed golfing, operating Ham radio, and was famous for his sourdough pancakes, which he enjoyed cooking for public and civic events. His great pleasure and love was with his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two wives, and a son, Darwin, four brothers and two sisters.
Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 6, 2006, at the Iona LDS 5th Ward, Ririe Highway and Iona Road, with Bishop Geoffrey Thomas officiating. The family will visit with friends Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 at Wood Funeral Home, 273 N. Ridge, and for one hour before services Wednesday at the church.
Burial will be in the Iona Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. Military Rites will be performed by the Bonneville County Veterans Memorial Team.
