Services for William E. "Bill" Bobbitt Sr, 62, of Vivian were held at 2pm, 06/16/1989 at McGuire Funeral Home Chapel. Officiating was Rev. Bob Williford, pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church, assisted by Rev. Jack Fussell. Burial followed in Vivian Cemetery.

Mr. Bobbitt died Monday, June 12, 1989, at North Caddo Memorial Hospital in Vivian, La. following a lengthy illness. He was born Dec 17, 1926, in Shongaloo and was a resident of Vivian for 22 years. Mr. Bobbitt was retired from the US Air Force and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church, the Masonic Lodge in Everaux France and the Caddo Parish Sheriff's Reserves.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George Vess Bobbitt and Felicia Bonner Bobbitt; two sisters, Vessie Lou Anderson and Ruby Anderson.

He is survived by his widow, Maggie Horton Bobbitt of Vivian; six sons, Williams E. "Billy" Bobbitt Jr., Dan Michael Bobbitt, both of Vivian, Sgt. James G. Bobitt of US Air Force Korea, David C. Austin of Shreveport, William Edward Bobbitt of Springhill, Ronald E. Bobbitt of Shongaloo; one daughter, Bennishia Lee of Shreveport; three sisters, Hazel Popejoy of Las Vegas, and Duna Everett of Shreveport; one brother, John Riley Bobbitt of Mooringsport; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Pallbearers were the military.

Memorials may be made to the Dialysis Center in Shreveport or to the Neva Thomas Prison Ministry in Vivian.
