Steven Walter Harton, cherished husband, father, son-in-law, and friend, died Saturday, September 15, 1990 as a result of injuries suffered in a traffic accident.
Born May 13, 1949 in Ogden, Utah to Leo W. and Marjorie Grasse Harton. He was raised and educated in Milford, Utah graduating from high school in 1967. He was a veteran of the Viet Nam War, serving in the U.S. Navy. Formerly a police officer with South Salt Lake Police Department and was currently employed with the Denver Rio Grande Railroad as a special agent.
Married Connie Cannon on July 12, 1980 in Salt Lake City, Utah.
He loved the outdoors, especially enjoying fishing and camping with his family. He was a dedicated husband and loving father who lived life to it's fullest. He was loved and respected by all those who were lucky enough to know him and will be missed.
Survived by his loving wife; four children, Shannon and Cameron, West Valley; Mark and Amanda, Sandy; mother, Marjorie; and brother, Terry, Milford; and father and mother-in-law, Dean and LaVee Cannon, West Valley. Preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 12 noon, at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, where friends may call Tuesday, 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and Wednesday, one hour prior to services. Interment, Valley View Memorial park.

Accidental: Multiple Vehicle Accident
Special Agent Harton was killed by an intoxicated motorist. At 9:20 a.m., Agent Harton was driving his police agency vehicle northbound on Interstate 15 near 3900 South. As the 41-year-old victim changed lanes, he was struck from behind by a vehicle operated at a high rate of speed. The collision caused Agent Hartonís vehicle to roll several times. Although wearing his seatbelt, he suffered severe head injuries and died at St. Markís Hospital. The intoxicated motorist was charged with DUI and automobile homicide. Agent Harton was married and the father of five children. He is buried in Valley View Cemetery, Salt Lake City. His bronze name plaque is sponsored by his widow, Connie Harton.
