Velda M. Hartman Tassone, 84, of Brownsville, Pa., died Monday, November 20, 2006, in her home with her beloved family by her side.
She was born July 15, 1922, in West Brownsville, Pa., a daughter of the late Ray Hartman and Anna Hopson Hartman.
Velda was a retired Algebra teacher with the Brownsville Area High School and was a member of Fort Burd Presbyterian Church in Brownsville, Pa.,
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Rae Ann Hartman and stepsisters, Ruby Casey and Delma Bise.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband, Tony Tassone Jr. with whom she shared her life for thirty seven years; a daughter, Jacqueline Wadsworth of Uniontown, Pa.; a son, John Hart and his wife Donna of Uniontown, Pa.; a stepdaughter, Karen Tassone of Los Angeles, California; grandchildren, Shawna and her husband Craig Vilk of Uniontown, Pa., Jonathan and Stephanie Hart of Uniontown, Pa.; a half sister, Peggy Mauro and her husband Nick of Coraopolis, Pa.; a half brother, David Hartman and wife Barbara of South Carolina; stepmother, Mildred Hartman of Aliquippa, Pa.; stepbrothers, William Minton and wife Abbey of Aliquippa, Pa. and Robert Minton and wife Terri of Beaver, Pa.; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the ROBERT T. KISH FUNERAL HOME INC., Legion Street, Republic, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral Services will be conducted on Wednesday, November 22, at 11 a.m. in the Fort Burd Presbyterian Church, Brownsville, Pa., with Pastor William Lawson, officiating (there will be no visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday morning). Entombment will follow in Chapel of Peace Mausoleum at LaFayette Memorial Park.
