Henry's first marriage to Johanna Maria Wilhelminia Meier (1838-1867)in Germany on 25 Nov 1863 produced 1 child, Eliese Marisa (1864-1929). His second marriage was in Lancaster Co NE on 13 Dec 1871 to Henriette Rotter, a widow.

Another child, Willie, was born Oct 1882 after Henry's death.
Henry died an accidental death at age 40 years, 1 month and 11 days. From his obituary in the Nebraska State Journal, he was on his way home from the city of Lincoln with a load of lumber when he fell from the wagon. His head was run over by the wheel. The party of all neighbors had left the city about 5PM and their teams were jogging home. Shortly after they passed the brewery, the accident happened. Witnesses said he was thrown off when his wagon struck a rut in the road. The neighbor in the following wagon jumped down and held his head in his arms. He lived about 10 minutes. He had lived in that area for 13 years on a large farm near Centerville.
