His father, George Steele was buried on the Steele family farm in clark twp, Holmes Co, OH.
This information is excerpted from the Steele family book compiled in 1998 by Patrica K. Johnson, and much of the early Steele family information come from the 1909 compilation of the Steele family by William Henry Welfley, #61 of 225 copies. Moses was the son of George, son of Philip, son of immigrant George Steele. He married Leah Sutter in Holmes Co, Ohio March 14, 1837. She was the daughter of John Suter/Sutter Moses migrated with his family to Ohio.
After his marriage to Leah, he became a co-partner in the management of his father-in-law's farm. He and Leah became owners of the farm after her parents death. They continued to improve the farm and in 1858 they erected a large 2 story brick house on a knoll east of the spring.
After their death, the estate passed on to a nephew, E. M. Cox. They have a large tombstone with zinc tablets secured to the sides. Any zinc marker indicates wealth. Their names are on opposite sides with their daughter Amanda's name on the other side.
