Heavy Metal Musician. He was the lead singer and songwriter for the heavy metal band "Snot", which gained prominence at the beginnings of what became known as the "Nu Metal" genre early in the 1990s along with contemporary bands such as "Deftones" and "Korn". A native of Manhasset, New York, he helped form the band in Santa Barbara, California, and their first album "Get Some" was released in May 1997. From there they gained in popularity, and performed on the 1998 "Ozzfest" concert tour. In the midst of recording their second album in December 1998 Lynn Strait was killed in a car crash when a truck struck the vehicle he was driving in. The subsequent next "Snot" album was recorded with various guest vocalists and was released in 2000 as the tribute album "Strait Up".
