John E. Trevetts (sometimes spelled Truilt) was a United States Soldier during the American Civil War of 1861 to 1865.
He enlisted on July 18th, 1863, at New York City, New York, for three years service, at the age of 40 and was mustered into service as a Private in Company A of the 17th New York Veteran Volunteer Infantry Regiment on August 7th, 1863, at Camp Sprague, Staten Island, New York. He went west with the regiment and contracted an illness from which he died of on April 23rd, 1864, at Mound City, Illinois.
