Born in Ireland about 1843, Thomas Pack (aka Thomas Peck) arrived in New York with his parents in 1860.

On 31 May 1861, at New Dorp, Staten Island, he enlisted as a Fifer in Co. G, 32nd Regiment, NY Infantry. In Sep 1863 he re-enlisted as a Pvt. in Co. E, 17th Regiment NY Veteran Infantry. In Nov-Dec 1864 his pay was stopped for 1 haversack and 1 canteen. Mustered out July 13, 1865.

On 21 July 1866, he again enlisted as a musician in the infantry, serving at Fort Sully in South Dakota until 21 July 1869. During this time he is said to have married a Native American woman and to have had children.

In 1870 he was back in NYC, living with his parents and employed as a telegraph operator. In Nov 1872 he married Mary Casey. At his death, his occupation was shown as telegraph inspector.
