Jacob Koons was an American Soldier during the American Civil War of 1861 to 1865.
He enlisted on September 2nd, 1863, at New York City, New York, for three years service at the age of 21, and was mustered into service as a Private in Company F of the 17th New York Veteran Volunteer Infantry Regiment on October 13th, 1863. He served with the regiment through its service in Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, and Georgia.
Private Koons died of disease on September 2nd, 1864, at Jonesboro, Georgia.
