Conrad Walter was a United States Soldier in the American Civil War.
He enlisted on July 8th, 1863, at New York City, New York, for three years service, at the age of 18, and was mustered into service as a Private in Company D of the 9th New York Veteran Volunteer Infantry Regiment on August 29th, 1863. He was transferred with his company to the 17th New York Veteran Volunteer Infantry Regiment on October 14th, 1863, and designated as Company H of that regiment. He served with the regiment throughout its campaigns in Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, & North Carolina as a part of Major General William T. Sherman's Army. He was mustered out of service with the company on July 13th, 1865, at Alexandria, Virginia.
Private Conrad died on December 30th, 1925, on Long Island, New York, and was buried at the Cypress Hills National Cemetery in Brooklyn, New York.
