Died - Last Sat., Edward W. Nance, 107. He was born Feb. 16, 1823, a native of N.C. He went through the War Between the States as a private. He married in S.C. in 1867. He had one son who died 30 years ago and he was buried beside him in East Side.

Found parents! Daniel Faulk NANCE and Abcilla "Appa" WALTERS Edward was born closer to 1840 not 1823, per earlier census. Wife Rhoda (SHEPHARD) NANCE, who this is the one he married in 1867, but in NC, not SC, is living with her parents in Tatum Columbus Co. NC in 1870. Edward is in Burnt Swamp Township, Robeson Co. NC, marries Rosannah CAMPBELL probably in 1873, NC then they moved to SC by 1880.

E. W. Nance, later identified as Edward W in the paperwork, has a CSA pension application on line under Bulloch County in the GA Archives. He says he was born Feb 29, 1829 in Columbus County, N. C. , He says he enlisted in Fairbluff, N.C. in 1861 and served with Company C of the 20th N. C. Regiment. He was captured near Sharpsburg, Va in Oct 1864 and taken to Point Lookout, Md. prison. He was released from there at the war's end. Within the paperwork is a page for his wife, Rosanna. She says they married in Roberson County, N. C. in the Fall of 1867 and he died on 15 March 1930 in Bulloch County, GA.
