"Died, - At Capon Springs, Va., 28th ult., of dysentery, Dr. George P. Padelford, youngest son of Edward Padelford, Esq., of Savannah, Ga." Notice of death from: Boston Medical and Surgical Journal, August 15, 1861, vol. 65, p. 48.

Note: George's brother, Edward Padelford, Jr., was 1st Lt., commanding Co. B, Georgia Infantry, 18th Battalion. On May 31, 1863, the following was inserted into Edward Padelford's Confederate military record, "Lieut. Padelford went to Savannah, GA, with a 24 hour leave[,] was taken sick and has not yet recovered." He died in Savannah, GA, June 7, 1863, of typhoid fever.
