Laverne "Lolly" Jean Brown, 79, passed away on March 16, 2014, after a short illness, surrounded by her beloved family. She was born March 15, 1935.

Laverne was a loving, caring homemaker and a dedicated mother to her six children, four sons and two daughters. Laverne had 21 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren and they were all the apple of her eye.

Laverne loved to socialize and visit! She enjoyed laughter, story-telling, and having a good time. She liked to dress up and put on her make-up, and top it all off with a hat from her famous collection.

Laverne loved to shop and find a bargain. After visiting a garage sale or collectible shop, she'd in-turn find a recipient for her new found treasure.

Laverne had a sweet tooth, and that included a can of pop to go along with the cookies. Laverne enjoyed vintage Country Western music and even surprised us with a dance every now and then.

Laverne was preceded in death by her parents, Inga and Halvor Mesedahl, and two brothers, Harlen Mesedahl and Mike Mesedahl.

She is survived by her brother Loren (Wendy) Mesedahl; and her sister Betty Ann (Bruce) Mattila, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is survived by her four sons, Duane (Tina) Brown of Duluth, Robert (Delores) Brown of Princeton, Minn., Tim (Kathi) Brown of Madison, Wis., Greg (Annette) Brown of Brentwood, Calif.; two daughters, Sharon (Larry) Couture of Esko, Minn., and Terry Brown of Duluth.

Her family, extended family and former husband Robert W. Brown, will sadly miss her. Laverne was very giving, and that giving heart lives on through her children and many grandchildren.

VISITATION: 12 Noon to 1 p.m., Thursday, March 20, in Sunrise Memorial Park Funeral Home, 4798 Miller Trunk Highway, Hermantown, MN, 55811. A memorial service will follow the visitation in honor of Laverne's life, and will begin at 1 p.m. Interment will be private. Arrangements by Sunrise Funeral Home.
