He was a veteran in U.S. Navy (Amphibious Forces) during World War II. He returned from service and graduated from Springer High School in 1947. He married Jessie S. Martinez Dec. 26, 1949, in Springer. He lived in Fallbrook, Calif., from 1950 to 1978. He worked as a budget analyst with Department of Defense at Camp Pendleton, Cali. and later transferred to Seal Beach Naval Weapon Station in 1978. He retired in 1984. He resided in Stanton, Calif. from 1978 until recently moving to Las Cruces with his wife Jessie in January 2008.
Miguel is survived by his children Louise Holloway and husband Dusty of Fallbrook; daughter Elizabeth Martinez of Stanton; and son Paul A. Martinez and wife Carmen of Las Cruces; his brother and sister, Joe F. Martinez and wife Leila of Fallbrook and Domes Cervantes of Fallbrook; his grandchildren Paul Martinez Jr., of Albuquerque, Jessica Martinez and Miguel Martinez of Las Cruces, Theresa Holloway Cervantes of Bonsall, Calif., and Kim Holloway Seamster of Menifee, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jessie S. Martinez (recently departed on May 7, 2008), his parents, his sister Eloisa Bernal, brother Narciso R. Martinez and grandson Andrew Flores.
The Rosary and Funeral will be at Eternal Hills Mortuary and Cemetery located at 1999 S. El Camino Real, Oceanside, Calif. The Rosary was on May 22 and the Funeral Mass will be Friday, May 23,, at 1 p.m. and the interment to immediately follow.
