Marvin passed away at the age of 80 years old. He was the son of Benjamin Richard Jacobsen and Ellis Mitchell. He married Dorothy Marilyn Meeks on January 21, 1939 in Salt Lake City. They were later sealed on December 14, 1965 in the Los Angeles LDS Temple.

He was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many different capacities. He loved the out-of-doors and sports. In his younger years he played softball for Associated Oil-Mountain Fuel. He worked for 20 years for the U.S Postal service in Salt Lake City. In 1962 he moved with his family to Los Angeles, California where he owned and operated H. Salt Fish and Chips Esq.

Funeral Services were held on Wednesday, February 24, 1999 at 12 Noon at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 East South Temple Street. A Viewing was held at the Mortuary on Tuesday Evening from 6-8 P.M. and One Hour Prior To Services.
Graveside Services followed at the Salt Lake City Cemetery where he was buried.
Dorothy died on May 30, 2007.
