He was born in Cobb County, GA, son of the late Abe and Ada Payne Bowen. Mr. Bowen was a member and former Deacon at Salem Baptist Church, Gastonia. He was a US Army Veteran and was retired from the Gastonia City Police Dept. after 30 years of service as a police officer.
He is survived by: son and daughter in-law, Frank M. and Kathy Bowen; daughters and son in-law, Angela B. Johnson, Cheryl B. and Curtis Martin; brother and sister in-law, Frank and Charlene Bowen; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by: his wife, Reba H. Bowen; son, Audie Bowen; granddaughter, Jacqueline Hawes.
