The eldest of four children of Donald Theodore and Elise H. Brucker Meyer, she married Rev. Norman Lee Litzner on Jan. 27, 1963 in Sibley, IL. They had two sons.
They spent two years in England and then accepted an American Lutheran church in Des Moines, IA. Rev. Litzner was still pastoring there when Carol died of cancer.
Carol Ann Litzner, 42, of 1215 Sixty-eighth street, died of cancer Wednesday at home. Services will be Friday at Windsor Heights Lutheran Church, with burial in Resthaven Cemetery.
Born in Illinois, Mrs. Litzner lived in the Des Moines area for 10 years and previously lived in England. She was a former secretary at Lutheran Homes in Muscatine and Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque.
She was a housewife and a member of Windsor Heights Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Norman Litzner of Des Moines; two sons,Johnathan and Nathan, both at home; two brothers, Gary Meyer of Mariposa, California, and Phillip Meyer of Morton, Illinois; a sister, Donna Rae Mickelsen of Sandy, Utah, and her father, Donald Meyer of Paxton, Illinois.
The family suggests that any memorial contributions be made to World Hunger or Wartburg Theological Seminary, both in care of the Windsor Heights Lutheran Church.
Friends may call from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Westover Funeral home.
