Violet I. Blossom Ford, 73, Baldwin, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Baldwin with the Rev. Kirby Hayes officiating. Burial and Order of the Eastern Star services will be at Oakwood Cemetery in Baldwin.

Mrs. Ford died Thursday, Oct. 17, 1991, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.

She was born May 5, 1918, at Baudette, Minn., the daughter of Howard and Eva Lena Markley Blossom.

She attended grade school in the Manhattan area and high school in Dunlap and Ottawa, where she graduated.

She was a homemaker and worked with her husband at Ford's IGA in Baldwin.

She was past president and charter member of the United Methodist Women at Baldwin's First United Methodist Church, where she was a member. She also was a member of Evangeline Chapter 162 Order of the Eastern Star for 47 years. She held every office with the order, was Worthy Matron in 1959 and 1988, and District Aide of District No. 6 in 1975. She was a member of Business and Professional Women, and Woman of the Year in 1981.

After moving to Baldwin in May 1940, she joined the Young Mother's Club. She had been an active Patroness for Zeta Tau Alpha fraternity for 45 years and involved in the Mother's Club of Sigma Phi Epsilon. She was a past member of the Rebekah's and a Past Noble Grand. She also was a member of the Baldwin Garden Club.

She married Merlin Ford on Dec. 11, 1938, at Ottawa. He survives at the home.

Other survivors include two sons, William Ford, Shady Grove, Ore., and Robert Ford, Tecumseh; a daughter, Linda Ballinger, Raytown, Mo.; five brothers, Homer Blossom, Baldwin, Floyd Blossom, Clam Gulch, Alaska, Hubert Blossom and Howard Blossom, both of Cloquet, Minn., and Lyle Dean Blossom, Gaston, Ore.; six sisters, Bulah Ryman, Americus, Daisy Hemming and Shelia Schmitendorf, both of Lawrence, Iris Vasscourt, Roseburg, Ore., Esther Avery, Baudette, Minn., and LaVella Keltz, Portland, Ore.; seven grandchildren; and two great-granchildren.
