Medina County Gazette, 29 May 1969, p. 1: Sgt. James Duffy Dies in Vietnam Action: Mr. and Mrs. James Duffy, Brunswick, were notified yesterday that their son James P.(Pat), was killed in action in Vietnam on May 25.
Sgt. Duffy had been in Vietnam, between Saigon and Cambodia, for two months. According to reports, he was on patrol when it met the enemy and Pat was killed during a fire fight.
He was a 1967 graduate of Brunswick High School and had participated in wrestling, football and the band.
After graduation, he worked for Ohio Bell Telephone Co., until he entered the Army in May, 1968.
Previous to his Vietnam tour, he had been stationed at Fort Knox, Camp Polk in Louisiana, Fort Benning where he received noncommissioned officers training, and Ft. Louis in Seattle.
Sgt. Duffy is survived by his parents and two sisters. Carlson's Funeral Home in Brunswick will handle arrangements which are incomplete at this time.
Medina County Gazette, 6 June 1969, pg 3: Sgt. James Patrick Duffy, 20, of Brunswick, is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Duffy and two sisters, Colleen and Rita. He was with the First Infantry Division, First Batallion First Platoon in the Army.
Duffy died in Vietnam on May 25. Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in St. Ambrose Church in Brunswick and interment in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Cleveland.
Friends may call at the Carlson Funral Home in Brunswick on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
