Nancy Bigelow Brannock was born to Henry Glover Bigelow and Gertrude Barbara Lynch Bigelow on March 25, 1930. She passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2013 after a short illness.
Nancy is survived by two of her three children, Vernon C. Fritch and Andrea F. (Fred) Parle; and three grandchildren, James, Jerry, and Julie Parle. Also surviving are her husband George Cleveland Brannock; children, Tommy (Lori) Brannock, Cary (Jimmy) Milley and Cleve Brannock; and grandchildren, Tom, Morgan, Becca, Catherine, Reid, and Will Brannock, Jaqueline Milley and Sara (Dan) Hudson. Nancy was preceded in death by her first husband, Donald J. Fritch; and her eldest son, Douglas C. Fritch. Nancy grew up in Winchester, Massachusetts. She attended Boston University and Simmons College, graduating with a degree in Journalism from Simmons. She raised her family in Winchester, Mass., was a Realtor in the Boston area, and spent many summers on Nantucket Island. Nancy moved to Virginia in 1979, joining her cousins Alden and Dorita Bigelow as a resident of Charlottesville. She volunteered with preschool children in one of the local churches, and read to patients in the hospital. Nancy married George Brannock in 1995 and they lived on Edgewood Lane until moving to Westminster Canterbury of the Blue Ridge on Pantops Mountain in December of 2007. While at WCBR she participated in social events, exercise programs, and was in charge of the weekly movie nights on WCBR's closed circuit TV system. There will be a memorial service held at St. Paul's Memorial Church on Wednesday, April 17, 2013, at 11 a.m. immediately followed by a reception at WCBR in the Rotunda Room. Parking for the reception will be limited. Transportation will be provided by shuttle from the Martha Jefferson Hospital parking garage to the reception at WCBR.
