A. T. Wilkinson, "The Wilkinson-Johnson Family" Compiled, printed, and issued Cape Girardeau, MO, Mar 1967, p 2: "...John Sheppard of Washington Co., GA chose to come to Missuri with his family. ... It is easy to surmise that in this party there may have been Isaac Sheppard, of whom we know little but whose family is intermarried with John's, and Robert and Hannah Wicker, the parents of John's wife Nancy. These all came to Cape county to make their home near the Bethel Baptist Church. This church is probably the center of their lives and John became a deacon of this church."

Many thanks to Beth Mitchell for restored headstone photo and to Brenda Joyce, who first listed and graciously transferred memorial.

June 26, 2013 note from, "LDs gives parents as William Sheppard and Jemimah Johnson." No dates or references.
