STUARTS DRAFT - Virginia A. Brooks, 72, of Stuarts Draft, died Saturday afternoon (Sept. 22, 2001) at her daughter's residence.
She was born Oct. 4, 1928, in Craigsville, a daughter of Robert and Lucye Anderson. She was a member of Finley Memorial Presbyterian Church in Stuarts Draft.
She graduated from Craigsville High School as valedictorian. She graduated Dunsmore Business College and worked as a secretary at Westinghouse in Verona until her marriage April 9, 1955, to William A. Brooks.
She enjoyed showing horses for a number of years at various horse shows, where she earned many honors.
She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 16, 1999 and her brother, Cpl. Robert Lee Anderson, who died January 1945 while serving his country during World War II.
Survivors include a son, William Lee Brooks of Vienna, Va. a daughter and a son-in-law, Virginia Davis and Kenneth Harris of Stuarts Draft and three grandchildren, Griffin, Tawny and Tarken.
A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Bethel Presbyterian Church by the Rev. Becky Stanley, assisted by the Rev. Clifford D. Caldwell.
The family will receive friends from 7-8 this evening at Hamrick Funeral Home.
