Loyd J. Parcel, 65, of Centerville died at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Des Moines, on Thursday.
He was born April 26, 1923 at Hannibal, MO, to Rollie and Catherine Mae Bilhymer Parcel. He married Luella Pauline Walter on Des. 16, 1945, and she preceded him in death on Oct. 30, 1974. He later married Hazel Donald Demry on Jan. 15, 1977 at Seymour, and she survives.
He was a coal miner and a former employee at John Morrell in Ottumwa. He was a veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Silver Star.
Survivors are his wife, Hazel; children Buddy of Unionville, MO, Rudy of Unionville, MO, Ralph Parcel of Springfield, MO, Ruth Ann Ridgeway of Hartford, MO, Rosalie Sparks of Lewistown, Mont, Roberta Minard of Unionville, Iowa, Tom Demry of Centerville, Charlie Demry of Centerville, Judy Tometich of Phoenix, Ariz, Barbara Hixenbaugh of Centerville, and Jeanette Hornaday of Numa; 29 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Pauline, sons
Robert Wayne and Richard Lewis, and his parents.
Funeral services will be at 11 am today at the Johnson-Lange Funeral Home, Centerville, with the Rev. Carl Heien officiating. Burial will be in the Sharon Chapel Cemetery, Visitation was 7-8 pm Sunday at the funeral home. A memorial has been established to the Kidney Foundation and may be left at the funeral home.
