Branson Daily News - May 10,11,12, 2008 Weekend Edition Graveside services for James Robert Hammond, 73, will be held May 10, 2008, at 10 a.m. in Helphrey Cemetery, Taneyville. Dear friend John Crouch will speak at the service. Full military honors will be performed at graveside. Visitation was held May 9, 2008, at Whelchel Funeral Chapel, in Forsyth, from 6 to 8 p.m.
Mr. Hammond died May 3, 2008.
James was born in McPherson, Kan., the son of O.M. and Aletha Hammond. He graduated from Forsyth High School in 1952. In 1954 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was assigned to a radar unit in Germany. He was a longtime member of the American Legion Post 137.
He was of Protestant Faith.
He was preceded in death by Marcelyn L Heard, the mother of his daughter and step-daughter Victoria Clark.
Survivors include his sisters Juanita Bullington of Deming, N.M., Flora Windham of Brownwood, Texas, Wanda Smith of Lake Havasu, Ariz., Linda Hammond of Las Cruces, N.M.
