James Washburn was born October 2, 1928 and was the 2nd oldest of the 16 children of Alvin and Bertha Dane Washburn. He served in the Navy from 1955 and 1957, after which he began work in an apprentice program with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. We was with the IBEW for 32 years, retiring in 1990. He also operated the family farm on Lead Mine Road and worked with his son on his home-based sawmill. He was well known for the Clydesdale draft horses he raised, and collected horse drawn farm machinery and produced maple syrup.
He was twice married. His first wife was Phyllis young who died in 1973. He then married Shirley Cook Harrigan on August 21, 1981.
James was survived by his wife, a son and daughter, two step sons and two step daughters, 14 siblings and their families, 12 grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
