Janice Diane Jeffrey Leeper, 57, soared to Heaven from her home in Winchester, California in the early morning hours on June 18, 2010.

Janice was born to William John Sr. and Margie Dixon Jeffrey on November 23, 1952. Her mother and father divorced and Janice was raised by her mother and step-father, John R. "Johnnie" Hamilton.

Janice attended Columbus, Ks. schools and graduated from Columbus Unified High School in 1970. She later went to nursing school at Labette Community College and Graduated in 1974. She was a Registered Nurse for 34 years, starting out at Maude Norton Memorial Hospital in Columbus, Kansas, and retiring from St. John's Regional Medical Center in 2008.

Shortly after after her retirement, Janice moved to San Diego to be with her daughters and grandchildren.

She married Verne A. Leeper in August of 1974 at Columbus, Kansas. They divorced 12 years later.

Some of the things that Janice enjoyed most were cooking, singing, crocheting, walks on the beach, and spending time with her family and friends. She also loved being a nurse and taking great care of others. Janice had a great sense of humor and a strong faith.

Janice is survived by two daughters, Katie Ann Leeper Stockwell and husband Arec, of Winchester, California, and Stacy Diane Leeper Roth and husband Casey, of La Mesa, California, three grandchildren, Hudsen and Kynlen Stockwell, and Samantha Danielle Roth. A sister, Linda Susan Jones of Columbus, Ks., two brothers John Jeffrey, and wife Barbara of McCune, Kansas, and Jimmy Dale Hamilton, and wife Jacque of Hallowell, Ks. Two nieces and three nephews.

She was preceded in death by her biological father, her mother and step-father, brother, Charles Elmer Jeffrey, and a nephew, Dennis Earl Jones.

Per her wishes, Janice has been taken for cremation.
A Memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Monday, June 28th, 2010 at 1st Baptist Church at 633 S. Pearl, Joplin, MO. Memorial contributions can be made to the Janice Leeper Memorial Foundation.

Janice touched the lives of everyone that she encountered with her genuine smile and her giving heart. She will be dearly missed by her two girls, family and friends.
