Flying Officer John, Burton Knight, R.A.F. The son of Nelson and Madge, of Hampton Wick, Kingston-Upon-Thames, Surrey. Service no. 132409. He is remembered on the R.A.F. memorial at Runnymede and on the Hampton Wick War memorial, near Kingston Bridge, in S.W. London U.K.

3 April 2012 update:

Wellington bomber DV 664 on a bomber training mission, with unit 7. John was navigating, with Flying Officer Waite and Sergeant Bennet at the controls, around midday at Portballintrae, a village in County Antrim, Northern Ireland. The aircraft crashed in to the sea after making a turn. Though the accident happened close to land, the weather and sea conditions appear to have been bad and several bodies, including John's were not recovered.

Life goes on and some may remember Mr Knight, a local builder.
