CONFEDERATE DIES AT 104
William M. Loudermilk, who fought with Gen. John B. Hood's Cavalry in the Civil War, died here last night at the age of 104. He was Ark.'s last confederate veteran. Mr. Loudermilk joined the confederate army in 1864 when he was 16. He was promoted from waterboy to sharpshooter and saw action at Chattanooga, Marietta, Ga., Nashville & Atlanta. He had been a resident of Jonesboro for 71 years. He worked a small farm until 4 years ago. His widow is his sole survivor. Nine confederate veterans still are living according to the program of the 1952 convention of the men in gray.
